Bone Density Measurement (DEXA)

Your attending physician has referred you for a bone density measurement (DEXA). To accurately assess this measurement, we require the following from you:

An X-ray of the lumbar spine (LWS), not older than 5 years.

What Does a Bone Density Measurement Cost?

The cost is 40.- Euro. This amount is covered by the ÖGK (Austrian Health Insurance) under the following conditions:

For women aged 65 and older, and men aged 70 and older
For women aged 60 and older with risk factors
For adults with high-risk factors: cortisone therapy, severe illnesses

Important Notes

Appointment Booking: Not required. The examination can be performed anytime between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
Please always bring any existing X-ray images and prior reports to your bone density measurement!

X-ray examinations and bone density measurements are performed immediately – without prior booking – between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM. For all other examinations (CT / Computed Tomography, MRI / Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Mammography, Ultrasound / Sonography, Fully Digital Fluoroscopy, X-ray Pain Therapy, IVP / Kidney X-ray), please book an appointment by phone.
