Your physician has referred you for a bone density measurement (DEXA). So that we can assess this bone density measurement correctly, we need the following from you:

An X-ray of the lumbar spine that is no more than one year old.

What Does a Bone Density Measurement Cost?

The cost is EUR 40. This amount is covered by the ÖGK (Austrian Health Insurance Fund) under the following conditions:

For women from age 65 and for men from age 70
For women from age 60 with risk factors
For adults with high-risk factors: cortisone therapy, serious illnesses

Important Notes

Appointment booking: Not necessary. The examination can be performed at any time between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
If available, please always bring X-ray images and previous reports to a bone density measurement!

X-ray examinations and bone density measurements are performed immediately – without prior booking – between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM. For all other examinations (CT / Computed Tomography, MRI / Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Mammography, Ultrasound / Sonography, Fully Digital Fluoroscopy, X-ray Pain Therapy, IVP / Kidney X-ray), please book an appointment by phone.
